Tranquil rustic-lux set in blissful gardens
As well as providing four bedrooms and four bathrooms for up to eight, thanks to its large green areas, playhouse, and trampoline, this the perfect property for families with kids.
SETTING
The villa takes it name from the small quaint town of Puigpunyent it sits on the edge of, whose name is believed to come from the Latin for ‘sharp mountain’. And nestled in the foothills of the Tramuntana Sierra, you’ll understand why from the town’s backdrop of dramatic rocky peaks.
The town is largely residential, though surrounded by some of Mallorca’s most picturesque hiking and cycling trails – the nearby Reserva Puig de Galatzó is also a spectacular nature reserve and great for families. Despite the feeling of being surrounded by untamed countryside, you’re still just a 20-minute drive from the bustling capital, Palma.
SLEEPING
Each of the four bedrooms is a haven of calm, combining airy modern decor with rustic touches such as natural stone and wood. All extend to their own bathroom with rain-fall showers or bathtub, together with fluffy towels and premium toiletries. All bedrooms have air conditioning.
RELAXING
Surrounded by walls clad in pink bougainvillea and well-tended lawns, the pool terrace is a fabulous place to chill-out and indulge in the holiday ritual of swimming and sunbathing. Poolside sunbeds and outdoor lounge means plenty of space for everyone, too.
There’s a cosy sitting room inside the house, as well, where you can flop in front of the widescreen TV complete with satellite channels. An integrated sound system also means you can enjoy music wherever you are.
EATING
If you love alfresco cooking, this villa has it all. At the outdoor kitchen area by the pool you’ll find a top-of-the-range gas barbecue, pizza oven and, for the purists, there’s a traditional charcoal-fired grill too. There’s even a second barbecue and kitchenette under a long covered terrace, which extends to more comfy seating and a chunky wood table – lovely spot for dinner overlooking the garden.
Despite its small size, Puigpunyent has a couple of excellent restaurants, though for a premium dining experience head up the hill to Hotel Son Net, with a choice of fine-dining Oleum or the more casual El Gazebo, with stunning mountain vistas.
