As you’ll likely gather from the name, Casa Duquesa or ‘Duchess House’ is a fabulously grandiose country retreat surrounded by appropriately ample grounds – 150 acres of elegantly landscaped gardens, olive groves and orchards to be precise. While much of the magnificent estate has undergone an extensive update, the main house is still brimming with old-school charm and aristocratic opulence.

Sleeping up to 18 guests, it’s a wonderful choice for that big-group, blow-out break with chill-out areas and terraces to easily accommodate everyone. There’s everything from swish swimming pool area when the sun is shining to big-but-cosy lounge with log fire for cooler evenings. And if it’s a wedding venue you’re after, there’s even a small chapel onsite, plus a helipad if you want to make a grand entrance.

SETTING
The villa’s location in the verdant central plains of Mallorca’s puts you in the rural heartland of the island, while also being within easy striking distance of some of the south coast’s best beaches. In fact, few parts of the island is very far away so the villa is a great base for exploring – even Palma and its airport are just half an hour away.
Close by, however, there are lots of vineyards you can visit, including Bodega Can Feliu just five minutes by road. For a taste of authentic Mallorca, Porreres is also a short drive away and a wonderfully typical and unspoilt example of village life, and a great place to stock up on local produce.
SLEEPING
The house has a whopping nine bedrooms in total, ranging from the master bedroom up to attic rooms, and all with ample space for two guest in each. Decor is certainly traditional in style – with carved headboards, antique furnishings and terracotta tile floors – though with a fresh and polished feel.
While all have access to their own bathroom, the master bedroom also features a marble-trimmed tub. Several of the rooms have views over the patio (though with no direct access to the villa). Each comes with its own TV, too, though most will prefer gazing out at the scenic Mallorcan countryside.
RELAXING
Separated from the main house via a short walkway, the pool area is a nicely secluded spot where you can enjoy a cooling dip between reclining on one of the numerous cushioned loungers. The pool itself is a generous 75 square metres with shimmering deep green mosaic tiling. There’s a pool house here, too, with comfy lounge and a quiet spot for intimate evening drinks.
EATING
You’ll find two fully-equipped kitchens with everything you need to prepare everything from snacks to banquets – including a 16-seater dining table perfect for that purpose. One of the kitchens is industry-standard so perfect if you’re hiring a private chef or catering for large events. While there’s no restaurant within walking distance, you’ll find lots of authentic restaurants in the surrounding villages of Porrores and Vilafranca de Bonany, or town of Felanitx.
